A Regina man was found guilty Thursday of sexually assaulting a girl who was 12 years old at the time.
Christopher Duke pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual assault on the first day of his trial, held at Regina’s Court of Queen’s Bench. The trial wrapped up in May and the guilty verdict was delivered Thursday by Justice Graeme Mitchell.
Duke is to remain out on bail until a sentencing hearing, which has been set for Oct. 17.
Duke was 49 years old when he was arrested on Aug. 1, 2019 and charged with sexually assaulting the girl, whom he knew.
In a media release issued at the time, Regina police said officers responded to a home in the city that morning for the report of a sexual assault. They were told the incident had occurred at the home the previous evening.
The investigation led to Duke’s arrest.
