Ryan Murray is bringing the Stanley Cup to his hometown of White City on Thursday.
Fans will be able to meet Murray as well as take pictures with Lord Stanley between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The town says there will also be a hardest shot competition, 4×4 pro games and treats from local vendors. An auction will also be available for people to participate in. All of the money raised through that will go towards KidSport.
In addition to all of the events, the town is also planning to unveil a sign which recognizes Murray’s accomplishments from his hockey career. It will be located at the intersection of Ramm Avenue and Gregory Avenue East. A banner will also be unveiled at Communiskate proudly recognizing Murray’s achievements.
Murray was the second overall selection in the 2011 NHL Draft and was also member of the Canadian world junior team in 2012.
He is one of four members of the Colorado Avalanche from Saskatchewan to have their named etched on the cup this year. Head coach Jared Bednar, Darcy Keumper and Josh Manson will also get their day with the Cup.
