A 15-year-old boy is facing firearm charges after allegedly injuring two people with a BB gun in Regina’s Coronation Park neighbourhood Wednesday night.
According to police, two youths asked another person to call police after a person they recognized allegedly shot at them from a black Ford Escape SUV. While some officers were taking statements from the victims, who were hit in the hand and arm and suffered “relatively minor” injuries, other officers tracked down the vehicle nearby.
Five people were interviewed by police, leading to charges against the boy. He’s accused of possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, and facing two charges of discharging a BB gun with intent.
He was released on an undertaking to appear in court in September, police said. Because he is a youth, the boy can’t be named.
“The Regina Police Service reminds the public that unlawful use of airsoft pistols and BB guns can carry serious criminal consequences and can also inflict injury to others, as well as property damage,” a statement from police read.
