A man who was the subject of a warning by the Regina Police Service in November is back in custody.
Louis Ted Mercredi, 39, was arrested Saturday and returned to a closed-custody facility. He had been living at a home in the Heritage neighbourhood that was to provide supervision and monitor his activities.
According to a release from the Regina Police Service on Tuesday, Correctional Service Canada “issued an apprehension suspension warrant” calling for Mercredi’s arrest.
Mercredi’s criminal history includes violent sexual offences, but police said the arrest wasn’t a result of Mercredi committing a new offence against a person.
When the advisory was issued in November, Mercredi had just completed a 97-month sentence. He had been declared a dangerous offender and had been given a long-term supervision order for 10 years.
