Regina’s SWAT team was called out Wednesday to help arrest a man who was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant.
In a media release Thursday, the Regina Police Service said an investigation by members of the patrol and gang units determined the 31-year-old man was at a home on Seventh Avenue.
“Believing the suspect was in possession of a firearm, a request was made to authorize SWAT members to execute a search warrant and aid in the arrest,” the release said.
Shortly after 6 p.m., two adults and a child came out of the house and one of the adults was arrested.
A search of the home found a sawed-off Remington 12-gauge shotgun, 12-gauge shotgun ammunition and .22-calibre ammunition.
The man is facing 11 gun-related charges. He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Thursday morning.
