A Saskatchewan-wide warrant has been issued for a man charged in connection with an assault — but the RCMP admits the man might not even be in the province.
In a media release Thursday, the Saskatchewan RCMP said 36-year-old Jeremy Mackenzie of Nova Scotia had been charged in July with one count each of assault, pointing a firearm, using a restricted weapon in a careless manner, and mischief.
Saskatoon RCMP got the call in March of an assault that occurred in November of last year in the Rural Municipality of Viscount. The warrant was subsequently issued for Mackenzie’s arrest.
“At this time there is no evidence he is in Saskatchewan,” the RCMP release said. “Provincial Crown Prosecution is currently reviewing to determine if the warrant will be extended beyond provincial borders.”
The RCMP didn’t provide a picture of Mackenzie.
