Regina drivers can expect to see more police officers on the roads over the next two days.
On Wednesday, the Regina Police Service said a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) blitz will be held Wednesday and Thursday.
Officers from around Saskatchewan will be working with representatives of partner agencies at various locations in and around Regina.
“Enforcement will focus on traffic offences like distracted driving, seatbelt use, impaired drivers, unlicensed drivers and commercial vehicle standards,” the police said in a media release.
Officers also will focus on rail crossings as part of National Rail Safety Week, which runs until Sunday. Drivers and pedestrians will get education about railway crossing etiquette and safety.
Municipal police services, the RCMP, Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, Canadian National, and Canadian Pacific police will be participating, as will representatives from SGI and the ministries of Justice and Finance.
