RCMP in Melville are on the hunt for a dangerous driver who refused to stop for police.
According to RCMP, officers from the Melville detachment tried to stop a truck on Sept. 12, but the driver took off at high speed, losing some stolen cargo in the process.
“As it was driving away, a number of items fell from the truck,” RCMP said in a statement.
“Investigation determined some of them were reported as stolen from Melville the previous night.”
Police caught up with the truck again around 3 p.m. the same day, but after officers tried another traffic stop, the driver took off at high speed near a school where students were present, so officers called off the pursuit.
That wasn’t the end of the chase, however, as police spotted the vehicle again a few hours later.
The driver got away once again by speeding away, running multiple red lights in the process.
After investigating, RCMP issued a warrant for 22-year-old Yorkton man, Clayton Fenwick, who is charged with fleeing from police, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property, and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. Police said Fenwick stands five-foot-ten and weighs 155 pounds.
He has brown hair, green eyes, and distinctive tattoos on his face and neck.“Investigators have received information that Clayton Fenwick may be injured, which possibly may affect how he walks, but this has not been confirmed,” RCMP said.
Fenwick may be in Yorkton or Regina, RCMP said, or in other east-central communities. Anyone who spots Fenwick should not approach him, police said.
Instead, sightings should be reported to RCMP, local police, or Crime Stoppers.
