F.W. Johnson Collegiate was locked down Friday morning and six elementary schools in the area were put in “secure the building” mode.
The Regina Police Service said in a release just after 10 a.m., that officers were “on the scene of an incident” at the east-end high school.
As well, Glen Elm, Dr. George Ferguson, Judge Bryant, Henry Braun, St. Catherine and St. Theresa elementary schools secured their buildings.
If a threat is believed to be outside the building, all outside doors are locked and school staff monitor the doors until there’s an all-clear given. Entry and exit of the buildings is available only at the front doors and is monitored by police and school staff.
No other details were available about the incident, but police were asking anyone with information to call them at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
People were asked to avoid the area.
Regina Public Schools advised parents not to go to the school.
