A 26-year-old man is facing charges after a break-in Sunday night — and he’s also nursing his injuries after being bitten by a Regina police dog.
Police said Monday that officers responded at about 9:50 p.m., to the 600 block of Montague Street to a call that a garage had been broken into. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect had fled, but callers said they’d seen the man hiding in yards in the neighbourhood.
The canine unit showed up and found the man hiding under a deck at a house in the area. Police said when the man refused to come out, the dog was sent in and bit the man on one of his arms.
The man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment of a dog bite.
The suspect was charged with mischief under $5,000 and break and enter. He made his first court appearance Monday.
