Regina police say a suspicious package that resulted in the deployment of the Explosives Disposal Unit on Tuesday has been identified as a “hoax device.”
At around 10:45 a.m., police were called to a house in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue after the property owner spotted a package outside.
“There was no explanation for how the package had gotten there and its appearance was concerning,” the police said in a release issued at about 2:45 p.m. “The owner contacted police, who dispatched patrol officers along with members of the Explosives Disposal Unit.
“The package was deemed to be a hoax device, with no potential threat to public safety.”
Police didn’t release any more details about what was in the parcel or what made it a hoax.
The police are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
