A 21-year-old Regina man has been sentenced to eight years in prison in connection with a crash at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Arcola Avenue last year.
In a media release issued Sept. 29, 2021, police said they were called to the intersection for a report of an injured man who had been hit by a vehicle.
Police were told the man was driving a vehicle and was stopped at the intersection when another vehicle struck his from behind. When the man got out and went to the back of his vehicle, the suspect vehicle drove into him.
Two people who saw the incident got out of their vehicles to help the injured man, and all three were hit by the suspect vehicle as it sped away.
Larz Anthony Okeeweehow initially was charged with three counts of attempted murder. According to court documents, he pleaded guilty Sept. 16 in Regina Provincial Court to one count of attempted murder and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
He also pleaded guilty to charges including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, failing to comply with a release order, and breach of probation.
