Regina residents can soon have their say about the city’s future look.
The city’s Catalyst Committee is preparing to hold public information sessions to get feedback on five recreation and cultural facility proposals for Regina.
“The projects proposed represent opportunities to grow local sport, recreation and culture, attract large-scale events to our community, as well as activate our downtown and contribute to Regina’s economic prosperity,” Coun. Bob Hawkins, co-chair of the Catalyst Committee, said in a media release.
“Our goal as a committee is to thoughtfully explore potential synergies between the projects and determine preferences for location and sequencing to achieve the best overall benefit for our city.”
The sessions are to be held between Oct. 17 and Oct. 20 in the AGT Lounge at Mosaic Stadium. There will be two sessions per day, during which project representatives will share information about the so-called “catalyst projects.”
The five projects are a multi-purpose event centre, an aquatics centre, a multi-purpose outdoor baseball stadium, a synthetic outdoor field project, and a new central branch for the Regina Public Library.
An online public survey will be held in conjunction with the information sessions; the survey is to start Oct. 17 on the City of Regina’s website.
“This is an incredible time for our city,” said Tim Reid, a committee co-chair and the president and CEO of Regina Exhibition Association Limited. “These projects are going to be transformational.
“The committee takes this work very seriously to ensure everything is staged and prioritized properly to ensure the maximum benefit for everyone in our community.”
