An inmate at the Regina Correctional Centre has been charged with murder, after allegedly killing another prisoner this week.
According to RCMP, two inmates – 46-year-old Sheldon Rosebluff and 31-year-old Adrian Cote – were “involved in an altercation” on Wednesday inside the jail. RCMP said Rosebluff was seriously injured and was pronounced dead on the scene, while Cote was unhurt.
Cote is now facing a second-degree murder charge, RCMP said. He made a court appearance Thursday, and is scheduled to return to court later this month to answer the charge.
The investigation into Rosebluff’s death is continuing, RCMP said, with help from forensic experts.
In a statement, the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety said it will also be conducting an internal investigation.
