A 56-year-old Regina man has been sentenced to 30 months behind bars after pleading guilty to impaired driving causing death.
Glen Sauer pleaded guilty to the charge on Sept. 12. On Friday in Regina Court of King’s Bench, he was handed a 2 1/2-year prison sentence as well as lengthy driving and firearms prohibitions.
Sauer was charged in connection with a fatal crash on the Lumsden Beach access road on July 12, 2020.
According to a media release from the RCMP at the time, a 54-year-old woman died in the single-vehicle crash. The woman was found outside the vehicle, which had rolled in the ditch.
Sauer was found inside the vehicle. He was removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital in Regina for treatment.
He was charged about a week and a half later.
The Mounties said in their initial release about the incident that alcohol was “being investigated as a factor in this collision.”
