With winter approaching, the Regina Airport Authority has announced plans to offer travellers flights to nine sunny destinations.
In a media release Thursday, the airport said direct flights will be available this winter to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Orlando, Cancun, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Los Cabos, Mexico, Mazatlán, Mexico, Varadero, Cuba, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The flights are to begin Nov. 5 with a WestJet flight to Puerto Vallarta. Sunwing also is set to take passengers from Regina to sunny vacation spots.
“Saskatchewan residents love going south during the winter so we’re pleased to have so many non-stop options for a convenient way to escape the cold,” Justin Reves, the airport authority’s manager of customer experience, said in the release.
“We also know there is a lot of pent-up demand, and these planes will fill up quickly. Our recommendation is to book early and be flexible on dates if you can for the best prices.”
In recent years, flights from Canadian cities to tropical destinations were limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
