Nearly 200 Saskatchewan drivers were ticketed for speeding in school zones during the month of September, according to SGI.
School zone tickets are extra costly, SGI noted, with drivers exceeding the posted limit by 20 kilometres per hour facing a fine of $310 along with three demerits.
Drivers who ignore crosswalks could also be facing some hefty tickets, SGI said. During September, 10 drivers were handed $230 tickets for failing to yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.
Last month, a total of 4,887 tickets were handed out for speeding around the province, SGI reported.
During the month of September, SGI said police also nabbed 339 impaired drivers, ticketed 435 drivers for seatbelt and carseat violations, and issued 869 tickets for distracted driving, 770 of which were for using mobile devices.
