Police in Regina are appealing to the public for information on two armed robberies which officers believe are connected.
The first happened around 3 a.m. on Sunday, when a man and a woman were sitting in a vehicle on Retallack Street. A dark-coloured truck with three people inside pulled up beside them, police said, and two men wearing balaclavas jumped out.
They approached both sides of the vehicle, police said, and one of them brandished a gun while the other produced a “large bladed weapon.”
The victims handed over banking cards and a purse before being ordered to leave the area. The victims complied, police said, and were not hurt.
The second incident happened just 40 minutes later.
In that case, two women were sitting in a car on Lakeview Avenue when a man ran up to the window and started hitting it. He then produced a gun, police said, and pressed it up against the window.
“The victims were able to drive away,” police said in a statement. “The male attempted to chase after them.”
In the second incident, nothing was taken and no injuries were reported. The suspect was in his mid-30s, wearing jeans, a white hoodie and a black medical mask.
Anyone with information on either incident was urged to contact the Regina Police Service, or make a report anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
