A robbery in Regina on Thursday sounds a lot like one that occurred recently on a Saskatchewan highway.
Regina police say officers responded at about 9:50 a.m., to a convenience store on Fifth Avenue for a report of an armed robbery. Officers were told a man had been stabbed and robbed of his belongings in a nearby alley.
“Police learned that the victim had been driving by and witnessed a male lying on the ground,” a release from police said. “He got out of his vehicle to assist the prone male when another male arrived, demanded his belongings, and stabbed him. Both of the other males fled.”
Paramedics arrived and tended to the victim’s injuries, which were described as non-life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Police said one of the suspects had a shaved head and was wearing a red sweatshirt with white pants. The other suspect was described as being about 5-foot-10 in height with shoulder-length dark hair, he and was wearing a black toque, black hoodie and black pants.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Last Thursday, a driver was travelling along Highway 21 on the Mudie Lake First Nation when they came across a black compact SUV on the road, with a man lying on the ground nearby.
When the driver stopped and got out of their vehicle to help, the man on the ground got up, threatened the driver with a machete and demanded the keys to their vehicle. A second male nearby assaulted the driver, who was then robbed of some cash.
