A 56-year-old man from the Hatchet Lake First Nation is facing a manslaughter charge in connection with his son’s death.
RCMP officers were called to a home on the First Nation after a report of an altercation. At the scene, officers found the body of 28-year-old Donald Mercredi, a resident of Hatchet Lake, who was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
At the scene, officers arrested the 56-year-old father of the deceased man, Donald Mercredi Sr., a resident of the same First Nation.
He’s now charged with manslaughter, the RCMP said, and is set to appear in a La Ronge courtroom later this week.
