A 37-year-old Regina man has been sentenced to four years in prison in connection with a wild ride through Regina in September.
According to court documents, Christopher Derek Shore pleaded guilty in Regina Provincial Court to charges including dangerous driving, impaired driving, failing to stop after an accident, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and breach of probation.
It’s the second time Shore has been jailed for an incident on Regina streets. In March of 2011, he was sentenced on charges including assaulting a police officer (with a vehicle), dangerous driving and resisting arrest.
In January of 2011, Shore and three others were arrested after a stolen truck driven by Shore hit a Regina police cruiser, narrowly missing an officer.
In the more recent incident, police got a call Sept. 18 saying a speeding truck had crashed through a fence on Dixon Crescent, just off Arcola Avenue. Officers couldn’t find the driver or the truck, but they did get a description of the suspect.
Shortly after officers responded to that call, police said a truck almost hit an unmarked police vehicle in the 1200 block of Bond Street, near Park Street. The driver sped off.
“Over the next few hours, several reports came in describing the same vehicle and same aggressive driving actions,” the police said in a media release at the time. “Plainclothes officers attempted to keep the vehicle under observation, but it was seen driving in excess of 100 (kilometres per hour) and disobeying traffic signals.”
Finally, the truck ran into two parked vehicles on Langley Street in the Hillsdale neighbourhood. The driver ran away, but was arrested a short time later.
