The search for a suspect in a hit-and-run in Regina on Tuesday night ended with the man falling off the roof of a house.
According to Regina police, officers tried to stop a vehicle in the area of Eighth Avenue and Elphinstone Street at about 8:25 p.m., but the vehicle took off.
Not long after that, the vehicle collided with another vehicle, and the suspect driver ran off. The driver of the other vehicle wasn’t hurt.
A police dog started to track the suspect and found him on the roof of a house in the 1400 block of Montague Street. When a police officer climbed up to the roof, the 27-year-old suspect tried to jump to the roof of a neighbouring house, but fell.
Police arrested the man and took him to hospital. A subsequent search found a bag of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and when the man was discharged from hospital, he was taken into custody.
The man was charged with evading police, hit-and-run and drug possession. He also was the subject of several outstanding warrants, which included charges of vehicle theft, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property, and credit card possession.
He was to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
