Snow routes are going into effect early Friday.
The City of Regina made the declaration Thursday afternoon, meaning on-street parking on identified routes will be prohibited from Friday at 6 a.m. to Saturday at 6 a.m.
“This parking ban allows crews to plow the roads from curb to curb, improving traffic flow along the busy roadways,” the city said in a media release. “It will also help ensure roads are passable for emergency response vehicles.”
Regina’s snow routes are identified by blue signs with a white snowflake. Vehicles that are parked on the snow routes during the parking ban will be ticketed.

Regina and other areas in the southern quarter of the province remained under a snowfall warning Thursday afternoon. Environment Canada meteorologist Terri Lang said 10 to 20 centimetres could fall as the weather system moves along the Canada-U.S. border.
“The light snow will linger into the morning, but for the most part, it will have pushed out by then,” Lang said. “We’re not expecting really strong winds with this weather system, so we’re not expecting extensive blowing snow, which is a good thing.”
The weather service also issued extreme cold warnings Thursday afternoon, saying wind chill values could approach -40 C. Environment Canada said the wind chill will moderate during the day Friday, but will return Friday night.
Lang said the colder air will be in the province’s central regions.
“We will see some moderation on the weekend when we have another weather system come through with some cloud and snow — which we know tends to moderate temperatures — but in behind that, there will be an even stronger push of cold Arctic air,” Lang said. “So we’re expecting some even colder temperatures early next week.”
