Regina is set to flip the switch for the holidays.
The city is holding its annual Light the Lights outdoor celebration in front of City Hall on Tuesday. The free event is to run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
It’s to feature horse-drawn wagon rides, interactive ice creations, outdoor activities and games, local entertainment, free hot chocolate and treats, a virtual colouring contest and a visit from Santa.
Performers scheduled to appear include the Balfour Arts Collective, Dickens Yuletide Singers, Growing Young Movers, Kung Fu Regina, Knox Metropolitan Church Bell Ringers, Regina Filipino Canadian Children’s Choir, Saskatchewan Winter Games, South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra, Tavria School of Ukrainian Dance, and Val Halla.
Kids aged 12 and under can take part in a virtual colouring contest by downloading the colouring sheet online and entering to win a prize draw. The contest closes Dec. 13.
The city says there will be restricted parking from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Smith and McIntyre streets between Victoria Avenue and 12th Avenue, and Victoria and 12th avenues between Smith Street and McIntyre Street.
