Regina is to return to weekly garbage collection for the Christmas holidays.
In a media release Monday, the City of Regina said the collection schedule will change next Monday and will continue until Dec. 30. The biweekly collection schedule is to return Jan. 2.
“The additional holiday garbage pickup does not apply to participants of the food and yard waste pilot service,” the city said in the release. “All recycling and food and yard waste will be picked up as usual.”
The city reminded residents to separate items that can and can’t be recycled.
Things that can be put in blue bins include plain non-foil wrapping paper, paper cards and envelopes, paper gift bags and boxes, cardboard boxes, and metal cookie tins.
Non-recyclable items include foil and glittery wrapping paper, tissue paper, padded envelopes and bubble wrap, ribbons and bows, styrofoam packaging, and holiday decorations and string lights.
