The Lieutenant-Governor’s New Year’s Day Levee is returning after a three-year hiatus.
Lt.-Gov. Russ Mirasty and his wife Donna are inviting everyone to join them at the New Year’s Day Levee on Jan. 1 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Government House in Regina.
The event has been cancelled in recent years due to COVID-19.
The levee is free to attend, and guests will be offered complimentary festive beverages and appetizers. The Western Senators, harpist Glenna Stewart and jazz pianist Jim Gallagher are to provide the entertainment.
“Visitors are encouraged to explore Government House while it is all decked out for the season with gorgeous Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, poinsettias and lights,” a media release said.
“One of the highlights is the soaring tree in the museum and the impressive 10-foot-high portrait of the late Queen, which was painted to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee in 2012 by Canadian artist Phil Richards. The painting is on loan to Government House until March while Rideau Hall in Ottawa renovates its ballroom.”

The first levee in Saskatchewan was held Jan. 1, 1884.
