Stores and businesses in Saskatchewan may be busier over the next few days until Christmas as it’s the first normal holiday season in years.
Cowtown’s Dale Claypool said that over the weekend, the Regina store was packed.
“(On) Saturday (customers) were lined up at the till for three hours straight. It was crazy, crazy good,” he said.
He added that as far as sales go, the business has had a good year as people are shopping local.
“The supply problems that we had earlier, especially in 2021, have kind of been rectified now, so we have lots of stock,” Claypool said.
He expressed how happy he has been with the sales for the year.
“Agribition went really good for us, so that just kicked off the Christmas season,” Claypool said, referring to the Regina agricultural fair that was held from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3.
He also expressed how important it is to shop local and support local businesses.
“You support your local people down the street. You work here, live here (and) shop here,” Claypool said.
He’s also expecting things to be busy until Christmas but said it really depends on the weather.
“A lot of our (customers) are from out of town. Other than the travelling part, the weather does affect our customer base,” Claypool added.
Cowtown is not the only business to have a success story during this holiday season. Western Cycle has also had a successful year.
Co-owner Jeff Pachal said it has been a successful year and it’s all thanks to the community.
He adds that while the store is still being affected by supply chain issues, it’s still well-stocked.
“It will probably affect us for the next year, but things have drastically improved,” Pachal said.
