A long-running tradition that went on hiatus in 2020 is making its return to the Queen City in 2023.
“Mosaic – A Festival of Cultures” will be back in Regina in the summer after a three-year break, with the dates set for June 1-3. Nish Prasad, the festival chair, said the committee is working hard to make the festival an event to remember.
“We are intent on restoring the festival’s well-loved pavilions, where festival goers have flocked year after year for international culinary delights and diverse entertainment,” Prasad said in a statement.
The pavilions represent cultures from around the world, festival organizers said, and are known for a welcoming atmosphere that captures “the distinct energy and identity of the countries they represent.”
There will be plenty of food and drink, the organizers promised, along with colourful costumes and lively music and dancing.
The festival started in 1967 and was held each year until 2020, when health concerns related to COVID-19 put the event on hold.
“As we work to reinstate the key elements people expect to see, we continue to explore ways to build on the festival’s previous success,” Prasad said. “Regina has a rich heritage that deserves to be celebrated.”
