The first babies of 2023 to be born in Saskatoon and Regina arrived within an hour of each other.
Elliot Quinn Hubbard made his appearance as the first baby born in Saskatoon this new year within just 30 seconds of the clock striking midnight, according to a release from the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
His parents, Ashley Downing and William Hubbard from Krydor, welcomed him at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. The baby weighed in at five pounds, 15.59 ounces and was 47 centimetres long.
In Regina, the first baby of the new year was a girl named Kaia. She arrived at 1:09 a.m., more than an hour into 2023.
She was born at the Regina General Hospital weighing five pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 49 centimetres long.
Both families are reportedly doing well.
