A crash involving seven people left two dead on New Year’s Day.
At 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Warman RCMP said a three-vehicle collision had closed the northbound lane on Highway 11 between the entrances to the town of Osler.
Detours were put in place and the RCMP reported a collision analyst was investigating. Motorists were instructed to slow down, obey instructions given by officers and avoid the area if possible.
An update was provided at 5:30 p.m. the following day.
The Warman RCMP said officers responded to the crash around 6:15 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
The Saskatoon RCMP, a Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, local EMS and fire departments as well as police officers from the Corman Park Police Service were also on the scene.
Seven people were reported to have been involved in the crash. A man and a woman from Warman were pronounced dead at the scene and all involved in the collision were injured in some way. The RCMP said several were taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance and next of kin have been notified.
Traffic on Highway 11 northbound was rerouted until 2:30 a.m. on Monday after officers had investigated the scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
