The Canadians advanced with a 4-3 overtime victory over Slovakia in a quarterfinal Monday. The U.S. pounded Germany 11-1 in another quarterfinal.
Canada has been led offensively by Regina Pats star Connor Bedard, who has recorded eight goals — including the OT winner against Slovakia — and 13 assists in five games so far. He now holds all-time Canadian records for goals (16) and points (34) at the world junior tournament.
U.S. stars Logan Cooley (five goals, six assists) and Jimmy Snuggerud (five goals, five assists) are second and third behind Bedard in the 2023 tournament’s scoring race.
Pre-game coverage is to begin at 5 p.m., with puck drop to follow at 5:30 p.m.
The winner will advance to Thursday’s gold-medal game against Czechia, which beat Sweden 2-1 in overtime in the other semifinal. The loser of the Canada-U.S. game will play Sweden for bronze Thursday.
