A house on the 3600 block of Dewdney Avenue was badly damaged after it caught fire early Tuesday morning.
Dustin McCullough, deputy chief of Regina Fire and Protective Services, says crews noticed smoke coming out of the home at around 2:30 a.m. while on their way back to the station from another call.
“(They) requested other crews be dispatched and discovered a working house fire when they further investigated,” he said. “When they went around to the back of the house, they were able to see flames.”
McCullough said since the fire is under investigation, the department doesn’t yet know where the fire originated.
“There was an indication that there was fire on the main floor and in the basement,” he added.
McCullough said no neighbouring homes were impacted by the fire and no injuries were reported.
“We believe this was a vacant house, so there was no one home at the time,” he said.
