A man and woman were arrested Thursday night after an armed robbery at a convenience store which, police said, saw an employee threatened with an axe and what police described as an “improvised aerosol flame weapon.”
Police received multiple reports of an armed robbery in progress at the convenience store in the 3500 block of Dewdney Avenue, and officers arrived just after 7:30 p.m.
When police arrived, the suspects were still inside the store where police said they had threatened a worker and were “causing destruction.”
Police said a 35-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were arrested and jointly charged with assault with a weapon, robbery, arson with disregard for human life, and mischief over $5,000.
Both were scheduled to make an appearance Friday morning in provincial court, police said.
