A 22-year-old Regina man is facing charges after two vehicles parked on a residential street were hit by gunshots Monday morning.
In an update Tuesday — some 30 hours after the first calls about the incident — Regina police provided more details about the gun call in the 800 block of Edgar Street in the Eastview area of the city.
Police said they started getting calls at around 8:45 a.m. from people who said they heard what sounded like gunshots. Officers who arrived locked down the street and the surrounding area.
“Police confirmed that two vehicles parked in the street were hit by what appeared to be bullets; one of the vehicles had a person inside when it was struck,” the police said in a release. “The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.”
After determining the house from which the shots were allegedly fired, police spoke with the people inside and convinced them to come out. Police said “multiple people” were taken into custody, and a search of the house turned up a gun and ammunition.
A 22-year-old man was charged with four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and one count each of discharging a restricted/prohibited firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner, and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
The man made his first court appearance Tuesday.
