A 22-year-old Regina man is facing myriad charges after a long investigation by the Regina Police Service into a string of vehicle thefts as well as other incidents.
On Sunday, police arrested the man and charged him with three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, and one count each of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, and failing to comply with the condition of a release order.
On Thursday, the Property Crimes and Stolen Auto units concluded a four-month investigation into vehicle thefts — and the same man was arrested.
He was taken to police headquarters from the Provincial Correctional Centre and charged with seven counts of possession of a stolen auto over $5,000, and two counts each of possession of a stolen auto under $5,000, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and failure to stop after an accident.
He’s also facing one count each of carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, resisting arrest, and fraud under $5,000.
The man also was charged with eight counts of failing to comply with the condition of a release order, and he was arrested on warrants from the Saskatoon and Moose Jaw police services for charges including auto theft, break and enter, and weapons offences.
He made his first court appearance on Friday.
