The Saskatoon Blades made it a memorable return for Jake Chiasson as they handed the Brandon Wheat Kings a 2-1 overtime loss on Tuesday night.
Chiasson was acquired by the Blades at the trade deadline earlier in the month.
His former team tried to spoil his return as Riley Roersma scored the first goal of the game in the first minute of the second period giving Brandon a 1-0 lead.
The Blades couldn’t capitalize on their first four power-play chances, but Brandon Lisowsky was able to put away his 25th goal of the season just past the halfway point of the third period. Saskatoon would finish 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
The score was knotted at one at the end of regulation and it didn’t take long for the two teams to decide a winner in the extra frame.
Saskatoon defenceman Charlie Wright only needed 15 seconds in overtime as he took it end to end to give the Blades the extra point on the night.

Both goaltenders were solid as Brandon’s Carson Bjarnason was named first star of the night turning away 31 shots. Saskatoon’s Austin Elliott took home the second star of the evening and the win stopping 20 shots on the night. Wright was the third star.
The Blades’ Trevor Wong led the night with two assists on the scoresheet.
Next up for Saskatoon will be a date with the East Division-leading Winnipeg Ice on Wednesday night before returning home for a weekend series against both Manitoba teams.
