A Regina man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the stabbing death of a man in August 2020.
A jury found 42-year-old Joshua Larose guilty of manslaughter on Nov. 25. He received his sentence Friday in Regina Court of King’s Bench.
With credit for time served, Larose will spend just over 12 years in prison.
Larose initially was charged with second-degree murder in the killing of 32-year-old Matthew Bossenberry.
According to a police release at the time, on Aug. 24, 2020, officers were sent to the 1200 block of Cameron Street for a report of a weapons offence and an injured person. At the scene, police and paramedics found a man who was pronounced dead by EMS.
After Larose was found guilty at trial, the defence put forward an eight-year prison sentence while the Crown asked for 16 years.
Larose also was sentenced Friday to one year for each of two assaults with a weapon on two other people and one year for a breach of probation. Those sentences are to be served concurrently to the manslaughter sentence.
He also was ordered to provide a DNA sample and was handed a lifetime firearms prohibition.
