Two people are facing more than 40 charges combined after police searches in Regina found a stash of stolen items.
Police said Friday their investigation came to a head Feb. 8, when officers pulled over two vehicles on Lewvan Drive. Both vehicles took off, but officers found one of them a short time later, parked in the alley in the 800 block of Robinson Street.
“Police located a female suspect and a male suspect inside a garage,” police said in a release. “When the male was approached by police, he got into a vehicle parked in the garage, reversed through the garage door, and drove into the alley at a high rate of speed. The female suspect was taken into police custody without incident.”
Police subsequently executed search warrants on a home in the 800 block of Robinson Street and on a storage locker in the 2700 block of Sandra Schmirler Way. Officers found two stolen vehicles, multiple firearms, and items that police believe were stolen during a series of break-ins in the Regina area.
On Feb. 9, the man was arrested by members of the Moose Jaw Police Service. Police say he was driving a stolen vehicle with a stolen licence plate at the time of his arrest.
The 33-year-old man is facing 32 charges. Among them are five counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, three of break and enter, and two each of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft under $5,000, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
A 37-year-old woman was charged with 11 offences, including break and enter, flight from a police officer, dangerous driving and failing to comply with release orders.
