Even though the 2023 Canadian Western Agribition doesn’t start until Nov. 20, organizers are already preparing for the event.
Agribition CEO Shaun Kindopp told the Greg Morgan Morning Show on Monday that show organizers are going to an agriculture show in Mexico to promote Agribition and recruit new partners.
“It is a 365-day-a-year job, which is something that we are proud of, as Agribition has got a phenomenal name not only in the country of Canada but internationally,” Kindopp said. “The one gentleman that I’ve been talking to has been coming over to Agribition for over 30 years from the U.K.”
Kindopp says it’s an honour that people consider Regina to be an international destination where business gets done, adding they truly believe in what’s being done in the city.
The economic spinoff from Agribition is rather huge for Regina.
“From 2017 (through 2022), we’re up 31 per cent … to $96 million in economic impact, which is a mind-blowing number, but it’s something we want to try and beat next year,” he said.
Kindopp adds it’s a testament to just how important the show is to not only Regina but the province of Saskatchewan and the entire country.
He says the show has a great partnership with people in the sector.
“They’ve seen an uptake of over 30 per cent of their cohorts being in the ag tech sector. It’s something that we as Agribition want to house, as the animal ag tech folks don’t have a place to call home, so we want that to be Agribition,” Kindopp said.
“We want to be able to give some of these start-ups an opportunity to showcase their products to their demographic and give them access to this.”
Agribition has always been a leader in the livestock industry and this allows it to continue to do that, he says.
“We want to be able to capture it now instead of being a follower, so we’re going to go down to San Francisco to the Animal Ag Tech Conference and kind of promote the show,” Kindopp said.
“Education is one of our values and we want to get people coming back to be able to learn and showcase what’s new and what’s up and coming, (so they can take it back to their operations).”
