A 64-year-old Regina man has been charged with sexual assault after an incident that police say happened early Saturday.
In a media release, police said officers were called just before 2 a.m., to a business in the 4100 block of Fifth Avenue for a report of a sexual assault.
According to police, a 41-year-old woman told officers that after she got into a vehicle in the 1100 block of Angus Street, she was sexually assaulted. Police allege the attacker choked the woman and threatened to kill her.
The release said that after the assault, the woman was able to get out of the vehicle in the area of Wascana Street and Fifth Avenue, where she ran to a business and called police.
Police said they subsequently saw a vehicle driving erratically nearby and pulled it over. According to police, “evidence of the assault” was detected and the driver was arrested.
Eugene Laramee was charged with sexual assault, uttering threats, and aggravated sexual assault with choking. He made his first court appearance Monday.
