8:30 – The government of Saskatchewan announced an enhancement to the Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) offering up to $200,000 over five years to attract family physicians to rural areas of the province. Everett Hindley, Rural and Remote Health Minister joins Gormley to discuss how important this incentive is for the areas that need family doctors.

11:00 – The Nest organization helps sponsor and settle refugees in Saskatoon and has been doing it since 1997. The organization learned about Afghan journalist Maryam Rajaee looking to leave Kabul with her spouse and two small daughters after it fell to the Taliban in 2021 from a report by Lyse Doucet. We have Maryam Rajaee now works at Saskatoon Open Door Society and joins Gormley to share her story on getting to Saskatchewan and living here with her family

12:00 – A private member’s bill is seeking to establish a foreign influence registry. Bill S-237 would require anyone with ties to an organization that could be under the direction of foreign governments to register and contact Canadian public officials. Senator Yuen Pau Woo questions whether this registry could become a modern form of Chinese exclusion but that has some activist not impressed with the timing of the Senators comments. David Wong, an architect based in Vancouver and activist for redress joins Gormley to explaining his disappointment in the senator who is using his Chinese ancestry to leverage his political career.
