The Co-op Refinery Complex in Regina is set for its annual turnaround.
The refinery says it’s putting more than $89 million into this year’s turnaround, which will span about two months. During that time, parts of the facility will be taken down for repairs, maintenance and upgrades.
“Our turnaround is one of the most important economic events in our community each year,” Jen Stiglitz, the general manager of refinery operations, said in a media release. “We invest significant financial resources in our facility, while also creating about 1,200 additional temporary jobs.
“The project is an investment in our future as we work together to ensure the safety and reliability of our operation.”
According to the release, a security team will manage the area around Fleet Street and McDonald Street to handle traffic issues during the turnaround. The refinery said peak traffic hours are to expected to occur between 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. during shift changes.
