A 32-year-old man is facing a pair of first-degree murder charges in connection with the stabbing deaths of two Saskatoon men.
The deaths date back to 2009.
In the first case, which dates back to Jan. 1, 2009, police responded to Avenue T South for a report that two men had been stabbed. Police said one victim, a 24-year-old man, survived his injuries, while a second victim, 22-year-old Spencer Whiteman, died from his wounds.
In the second case, police were called to Avenue H South on Nov. 16, 2009 for a reported stabbing. Officers found 33-year-old Morgan Doucette suffering from life-threatening stab wounds, which ultimately claimed his life.
On Wednesday, officers with the Saskatoon Police Major Crime Section travelled to Grande Cache, Alta., where they charged the 32-year-old suspect with two counts of first-degree murder.
“This male was 17 years old at the time of the first homicide and 18 years old at the time of the second homicide,” police said in a statement.
He’s scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday, appearing in a Saskatoon provincial courtroom from Alberta via a video link.
