Regina police say an investigation into an online threat made against Sheldon-Williams Collegiate on Wednesday has determined the threat was “unsubstantiated.”
In a media release Thursday, police said extra School Resource Officers were at the west-end high school in response to an online threat made Wednesday toward the school’s staff and students. The release said the increased police presence was just a precaution.
“Investigators in the RPS Tech Crimes Unit worked overnight and throughout (Thursday) to assess the credibility of the threats,” the release said. “The threats were unsubstantiated.”
The release didn’t say what the threat entailed, how investigators determined the threat was without merit, if there was a suspect, and if charges were anticipated.
Sheldon-Williams was involved in another incident Wednesday, when it was put in “secure the building mode” after a standoff at a nearby home.
