Two people have been charged after an incident on Queen Street that sent schools in Regina’s North Central neighbourhood into “secure the building mode” Wednesday.
In a media release Thursday, police said officers responded to a house in the 1200 block of Queen Street just before 1:30 p.m., for a call about an assault in progress.
“When they arrived, they learned the victim had just left the residence and walked to a nearby school where she had connected with a School Resource Officer,” the release said. “The victim stated she had been physically assaulted by an adult male at the home before he pointed a firearm at her. An adult female at the home had threatened her with bear mace.”
About an hour after officers arrived at the house, the suspects left the home and were taken into custody. Police said the names of the suspects weren’t going to be released because of the couple’s relationship with the victim.
A 42-year-old man was charged with assault and pointing a firearm, while a 37-year-old woman was charged with assault with a weapon.
The man made his first court appearance Thursday. The woman is to appear in court June 7.
