Gardeners in Regina can get their fill of compost and wood chips this week.
The City of Regina is offering those materials for free at the Yard Waste Depot.
“Compost is great for residents to use at home or in local community gardens for landscaping, flower beds and lawns,” the city said in a release. “It is made using organic material collected through the City’s organic diversion programs. Residents will also be able to load up on unlimited wood chips while supplies last.”
The self-serve depot is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The Yard Waste Depot is on Fleet Street across from the landfill. There are signs marking the site on Fleet Street.
Residents must bring their own shovels and containers, but there’s a maximum of five five-gallon pails per household for compost as there’s a limited amount available. There’s no limit on the number of wood chips residents can take.
The event is weather dependent.
