For some people in the Glen Elm Trailer Court, a quiet Friday night watching TV ended when they heard something.
Regina police now are investigating the death of a 40-year-old man at the trailer court on the east side of the city as a murder.
Tessa Snow and Marian Davis said Tuesday that they heard a gunshot near their home.
“We heard a shot on Friday night; I don’t know what time it was. But we did hear a gunshot and we stopped and looked at each other. So if (the victim) was shot, then we heard it,” Snow said.
Both women said hearing gunshots is normal for that area, but this time it was different because it was close.
They weren’t the only ones who heard it. Cole Keepness said his roommate heard something as well.
“A couple nights before (the police) came and looked around, she heard some pops, which she thought were gunshots and this was around 11 or 12,” he said.
In a news release, police said they found the man dead at a home Saturday afternoon.
Other neighbours said the victim kept to himself.
Davis said the trailer park has been quiet since the incident, but she believes it’s because of the police presence that’s around.
She said it’s not a safe area.
“We have no security here at all and the only time the police come here is when they’re called to come here. It would really be nice just to see them driving around just to let everybody know, ‘Hey, we’re here,’ ” Davis said.
Other neighbours said while it is an unsafe area, it’s scary that the man’s killing happened so close to home.
Police have not said much about what happened, just that they responded to a call of an injured person. No one has been arrested.
