A 22-year-old Regina man wanted in connection with the alleged attempted robbery of a cab driver in the city in April is in custody.
Police said Tyrese Pratt was arrested Wednesday. He had been wanted on a warrant since April 19.
He was charged with robbery and failing to comply with a probation order.
A 28-year-old woman also was charged in the incident.
According to police at the time, officers were called to Rupert Street shortly before 4 a.m. on April 19. Police and paramedics responded, and the driver was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers learned the driver had taken a man and woman to their destination, where the male passenger allegedly held a knife to the throat of the driver. Police said the woman got out of the cab and demanded the driver hand over money.
The driver grabbed the knife and hit the gas, police said, and the male robber jumped out of the cab.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Pratt was sentenced on Dec. 21 to 729 days in jail and was also ordered to supply a DNA sample on the robbery charge. The charge of failing to comply with a probation order was stayed.
