RCMP investigating suspicious death near Esterhazy

Officers from the RCMP’s Esterhazy detachment are investigating a suspicious death.

According to the Mounties, officers were called to a home in the northeast part of the detachment area on Sunday to conduct a wellness check. When they arrived, they found a man dead inside the home.

Police said the death is being investigated as a homicide, and officers are working with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to determine the man’s identity.

“Investigators do not believe this suspicious death is connected with a February 2023 homicide in the Stockholm/Esterhazy area, and do not believe there is an increased risk to public safety,” the RCMP said in a statement.

If a risk to public safety is identified, the RCMP said officers will alert the public.
