RCMP have opened two murder files on a pair of weekend deaths in Saskatchewan.
A man from the Muskoday First Nation southeast of Prince Albert has been charged with second degree murder after an altercation broke out at a home on the First Nation.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, Prince Albert RCMP responded to a call of an injured person at a home on the reserve. An investigation found that two men got into an argument outside near the home which resulted in injuries. One of the men, 27-year-old Wade Dreaver from Muskoday First Nation, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continued the investigation and arrested 24-year-old Chance Smith of Muskoday First Nation and charged him with one count of second degree murder in connection with the incident.
Smith is set to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
Meanwhile, RCMP are seeking the public’s help regarding a death that happened Friday night in North Battleford.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m., RCMP responded to a call of an injured person outside a home on the 1400 block of 114th Street. Upon arrival, police provided medical assistance to the victim until EMS got to the scene.
Despite their efforts, the victim, 32-year-old Kaylee Crookedneck from Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is being treated as a homicide.
Police are releasing the victim’s information in an effort to assist with the investigation.
